Edmundston, Friday, October 20, 2017 – It was with great pride that the Tree of Hope Campaign and the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation announced a total investment of $150,000 in two projects improving cancer care in Edmundston.

As part of this collaborative effort, the Tree of Hope Campaign will purchase eight new treatment chairs for patients receiving cancer treatment. These chairs will be more comfortable for patients and more ergonomic for staff.

The Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation will contribute to the planning and development of a treatment room for pediatric cancer patients. This project will greatly improve the hospital stays of children receiving cancer treatment at the Edmundston Regional Hospital.

Jean-Claude D’Amours is the Northwest VP of the Tree of Hope Provincial Cabinet. “The patients are the big winners in this wonderful collaboration between the Tree of Hope Campaign and the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation. I got involved in the Tree of Hope Campaign to actively contribute to improving care for cancer patients and, more specifically, for those from the Northwest. This project will have a direct and beneficial impact on our patients here, which I’m very pleased about!”

“This is an important time for the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation and for cancer patients,” explained Edward Dubé, Executive Director of the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation. “We are demonstrating that, by working together, we can accomplish great things. We have the same objective, namely to improve patient care. These projects will allow us to make great progress in this direction.”

For Dr. John Tobin, Chief Medical of the Oncology Department at the Edmundston Regional Hospital, these investments will have a real and positive impact on the Edmundston Regional Hospital’s patients. “I’m very enthusiastic about this news. Adults receiving cancer treatment will benefit from having the use of adapted chairs that better meet their needs and young pediatric cancer patients will benefit from having a treatment room that meets their needs and those of their families. I’m very grateful to our donors and I applaud this type of collaboration.”

Claude Paré is the Provincial Vice-Chair of the Provincial Tree of Hope Cabinet. “By joining forces, we can do more to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. The Tree of Hope Campaign is celebrating its 29th anniversary this year. With our 30th anniversary fast approaching, we are thrilled to be able to forge partnerships with organizations such as the Edmundston Regional Hospital Foundation to the benefit of the region’s patients!”

Other major projects will be announced elsewhere in New Brunswick prior to the Tree of Hope Radiothon, which will be broadcast by Radio-Canada on November 24 live from the CCNB’s Dieppe campus. Other information will be announced shortly.
