MONCTON, September 21, 2016 – The Tree of Hope Campaign is pleased to announce that singer-songwriter and actor Denis Richard will be joining actor and wrestler Robert Maillet as Co-chair of the Campaign.

“We are honoured to have Denis join the campaign,” says Claude Paré, Vice-president of the Provincial Tree of Hope Cabinet. “Over the past few years, Denis has fought cancer himself and despite his illness, he has never hesitated to help the Campaign, either by sharing his experience or by playing at the Tree of Hope Radiothon. His energy is contagious, and we are thrilled to have him on the Campaign team!”

Richard says he is very excited to take on this new challenge. He believes that for many people suffering from cancer, the support offered by the Tree of Hope family can make a significant difference in the recovery process.

“Living with cancer changes your perspective, your way of looking at life,” says Denis Richard. “It also makes you appreciate the things you’re passionate about even more. In my case, it’s music, theatre, television, and interacting with the public. My experience has also made me realize how lucky I am to have such a strong support network. For me, this new role with the Tree of Hope Campaign is a way of giving back to those who supported me during my own fight, and I am very thankful to have had that experience.”

Over the coming months, Denis Richard will be working closely with Robert Maillet, who joined the Tree of Hope Campaign as Co-chair last year.

“I am so happy Denis will be joining me as Co-chair,” says Robert Maillet. “He will soon learn what a positive and inspiring experience it is. Seeing smiles on the faces of the people we meet, the emotions of those who reach their fundraising goals, and the tears of joy at the Tree of Hope Radiothon is priceless. I am very happy to share those experiences with Denis.”

The Official Launch of the Tree of Hope Campaign will take place on September 30, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick campuses in Dieppe and Edmundston. Organizers will unveil the objectives for the 2016 Tree of Hope Campaign, as well as the priority projects for this year.
