tour de lespoir

Moncton, June 24, 2019 – The 9th edition of the Tour of Hope was officially launched in Moncton this morning in a spirit of great conviviality. From July 25th to 28th, nearly 150 cyclists from all over New Brunswick will hop on their bikes and pedal 650 km over four days to raise money for the Tree of Hope Campaign.

The group will depart from Edmundston on Thursday morning and will cycle all day to reach Campbellton. Friday, the route will bring the Tour of Hope team to Caraquet. After a well-deserved night of rest, the cyclists will head toward Miramichi on Saturday. On the last day of the event, Sunday, cyclists will cross the finish line in Moncton; where a celebration will be held in their honour in front of the Assumption Life building on Main Street.

“For Assumption Life, it’s important to support our communities and the causes we hold dear,” explains Mr. Sébastien Dupuis, President and CEO of Assumption Life.  “Cancer touches each family in one way or another. Funds raised by the Tour of Hope contribute to improving the quality of care offered to people suffering from the disease. Together we can make a difference.”

The Tour of Hope is a fundraising activity in support of the Tree of Hope Campaign. In 2018, cyclists presented a cheque for $300,000 to the Tree of Hope Campaign.

“This is my fifth time doing the Tour of Hope, fourth as Co-Chair,” said Dr. Carole Williams, Gynecologist-Oncologist at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre. “It’s always a very moving experience, as all of those who take part in the event have stories to share.”

“Funds raised by the Tour of Hope make a huge difference in the quality of care we can offer to oncology patients, right here in New Brunswick”, said Nadine Martin, Executive Director of the CHU Dumont Foundation.

By registering for the 2019 Tour of Hope, each participant committed to raising between $500 and $1,500; depending on the type of registration selected. Individuals or businesses who would like to support cyclists and contribute to this fundraising activity can visit tourespoir.com or treeofhope.ca for more information.
