Moncton, Wednesday, October 16th-- The 2019 edition of the Tree of Hope campaign was launched this morning with great fanfare in eight Francophone schools across the province. Students, school staff and campaign representatives were in attendance.

"We had some technical problems But, spirits were high and there was a lot of energy," explains Martin Latulippe. He is a co-chair and the spokesperson for the launch. He also chaired the campaign from 2008 to 2012.

The slogan of the campaign is Ready for the Challenge! Schools taking part in the morning launch shared their financial goals and the challenges they are taking. Let's just say that there is a risk of seeing brightly coloured hair and shaved mustaches on November 29.

The overall goal for this year is $2 million. Projects are funded based on the needs identified at the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Center and in other Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC departments offering a continuum of services in oncology care to cancer patients. For example, the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge.

Artist Monique Poirier was co-chair of the campaign in 2013 and 2014. She is back this year. She was at the Camille-Vautour School in Saint-Antoine. "The fight against cancer is a challenge for all those involved. The patients, the health professionals, the families and friends, and those who volunteer for the campaign. The Tree of Hope is a time when the entire New Brunswick community roll up their sleeves and take up the challenge. The co-chairs will issue challenges to one another. They will strive to give positive energy to the campaign and to all people affected by cancer," she says. The schools and their communities will also do their best to meet those challenges.

The official launch of the campaign marks the last stretch before the radiothon. It will take place on November 29 at CCNB-Dieppe and will be aired on CBC Moncton’s Information morning from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., as well as on Ici Acadie from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fundraising activities are already well under way in all areas of the province.

The public is invited to take part in one of the many activities being organized. They can also visit the campaign website and donate. It is also possible to follow the campaign on social media. Facebook Twitter Instagram
